KLM Refreshes Its Onboard Menu with the New Grand Café KLM
KLM is preparing a new onboard service for passengers on its European flights. 🇳🇱 From October 2026 the Dutch airline is introducing a catering concept called "Grand Café KLM", which combines complimentary refreshments, meals that can be ordered in advance and the option to buy on board.
The aim is to give passengers a wider choice and more flexibility in deciding what they would like during the flight.
🥗 Meals can be ordered in advance
One of the novelties of Grand Café KLM is that passengers can select certain dishes before the journey.
The pre-order selection will include a poke bowl and a Caesar salad, among others. Further items can be bought on board, such as a salmon and egg wrap or yoghurt with fruit and seeds. 🍓
This can be especially practical for those who like to plan before departure what they will eat on the plane.
☕ The complimentary selection is not disappearing
The change does not mean that every item on board will have to be paid for. KLM continues to offer complimentary refreshments to passengers on European flights.
The free selection still includes:
- coffee and tea
- water
- orange juice
- stroopwafel
So there is no need to give up the traditional Dutch treat during the flight. 🧇
🛫 KLM keeps developing its European flights
The airline had already announced that it was looking at a new hospitality model in economy class. The launch was preceded by several test phases, which examined not only the range of food and drink but also how the new system works in practice.
Catering is only one part of the improvements. KLM's European fleet has already been joined by 16 Airbus A321neo and 25 Embraer 195-E2 aircraft. The newer planes make the journey more comfortable with modern seats, USB charging ports and larger overhead bins. 🔌
The airline has also introduced complimentary onboard Wi-Fi on its European flights. 📱
